Social Media History via One Giant Infographic

Who wants to simply read something when it can be presented in a much more visual fashion.   I believe we are becoming an increasingly visual culture, relying on the image more than the text to convey a message.   However, I also believe the happy medium between the two forms of communication is the infographic.

To prove my point, take a look at this infographic from Brand Flakes (@brandflakesblog).  It’s a visual representation of the history of our social media world from 1971 to today…yes it goes back that far.  The topic is presented in a way that is visually pleasing while still very informative.

Game of Thrones Sportswear: Which House are You?

I have yet to read the “Game of Thrones” collection.  However, I am one of the biggest fans of the HBO series.  So naturally I think that these custom design t-shirts are amazing.  The designer, who goes by the name  Vanadium, created a line of “sports” themed shirts depicting the nine houses of the George R.R. Martin series.

The shirts are reminiscent of a post I wrote earlier in the year regarding modern takes on old movie posters.  Vanadium has done an exceptional job transforming the houses from Game of Thrones into believable logos for sports team…or at least an intramural kick ball league….hmm..

These designs (and many others) are available for purchase at Society6

If you are looking for a Night’s Watch, I’m sorry to inform you that you are out of luck.  Perhaps in a few months they will have a line of long sleeve tees and jackets, because after all…Winter is Coming (yes…bad joke I know)

A big thanks to Wired Design for revealing this little gem for me.  They always have great articles, highlighting truly creative minds doing astounding things.  I’m rarely if ever disappointed.  Game of Thrones Sportswear | Wired Design

Dominoes and Art – Starry Night – Vincent van Dominogh

I played with dominoes as a kid, sadly I never had a Domino Rally.  That being said I would never have thought to recreate a famous work of art.

Check out this domino creation by Flippy Cat as he recreates Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.  I’ve always been impressed when people use unique mediums to create art.  This example is no exception.  He’s got a Mona Lisa too.

Enjoy!

Luftbanza Airlines #Photoshop Timelapse

I have photoshop skills…but this guys has mad photoshop skills.  Check out this timelapse of a Photoshop creation by artist Alexander Koshelkov.  He brings together a mosaic of images to create one disturbingly beautiful piece.

Enjoy!

Creep – Carrie Manolakos – Radiohead cover

Radiohead may never play this song live ever again, but former Broadway singer Carrie Manolakos does a pretty darn good take on the song.  And it’s the first female cover I’ve ever heard of “Creep”.

Enjoy!

Mind Officially Blown – Cool Sound and Water Experiment!

Check out this amazing affect sound can have on water.  The video doesn’t explain how it works…and I’m sort of glad, because the sheer wonderment/enjoyment of watching would be lessened I think.

The Brusspup YouTube Channel is responsible for this video.  I’ve subscribed to his channel and most every video he creates is top-notch.  I highly encourage you to check his videos out.
